"The Skull Gang" - story by Claes Reimerthi and art by Heiner Bade.
"The Heart of Darkness Prologue" - story by Claes Reimerthi and art by Joan Boix.
Story :The Skull Gang written by Claes Reimerthi with art by Heiner Bade. This story is one of the new 22 page stories from Egmont. Despite the brevity of this new story it has been told in a relatively classic American style by one of the most prolific of Phantom writers still plying his trade today. Claes sets up a situation in which the Phantom is able to re-enforce the Ghost Who Never Dies legend while teaching a lesson to a criminal who is about to make a very bad life choice. Needless to say this story has escaped convicts forming a gang, attempted robbery, Skull ring punch marks, all the great and known qualities of The Phantom stories of old and it is well supported by Heiner Bade’s art as the Ghost Who Walks once again teaches the baddies one of life’s most valuable lessons, crime does not pay!
In order to maintain the size is just one of the reasons for publishing the second story in this comic book. The Heart of Darkness consists of 389 pages written in series form by Claes Reimerthi and drawn by Joan Boix. The Phantom faces several supernatural elements over a period of 50 episodes. Featuring the 21st Phantom, as well as his ancestors fighting the Brotherhood, an ancient organisation with links to the Nazis scheming to gain world domination. One of the major villains is Userhat, an assassin who originated from the lost island of Atlantis. In this prologue episode entitled The Stone of the Gods he gains immortality after being possessed by the demon Bahamot. At the same time unleashing uncontrolled evil forces which destroy Atlantis and threaten the future of our world. For a little more understanding and back story have a quick recap of the recently published The Fire of Life. There are several events in that which follow through into this great series.
