"The Last of the Merovingans" - story by Claus Reimerthi and art by Kari Leppanen.

Cover effects by Steve Shepherd.

Story :

The Phantom learns the truth about his Skull Ring as he confronts a power-mad French nobleman who lives like a medieval prince in his family castle.

Is it possible to raise the dead or re-animate dead matter? Necromancy is a form of magic involving communication with the deceased – either by summoning their spirit as an apparition or raising them bodily – for the purpose of divination, imparting the means to foretell future events or discover hidden knowledge. Greedy, desperate men resort to extreme measures and black magic or witchcraft feature heavily in this chilling story!

This story leans heavily on the Egyptian Legend of Rahotep, featured in Issues 1596 and 1601.
