“The King of Beggars”, is of particular interest because it took a different creative path to most. The story was the result of a competition run by Fantomen. Writer Per G. Hvidsten won a competition for best synopsis for a script in Fantomen 21/1987. In 1989 the final draft was still not finished but the Fantomen editor believed that it would be published in 1990. The story was finally published in 1992.
