"Raiders of the Lost City Part 1" - story by Claes Reimerthi and art by Alex Savuik.

Story : Raiders of the Lost City, is part 1 of a two part story that comes to us from the pen of Claes Reimerthi and with art from Alex Savuik. You will be taken on a journey of remembrance and discovery as we recall previously published stories that pre-date and inform this plot. Once again the Arctic Oil Company is funding an expedition of discovery in the hope of finding the The Bandar Idols. If two of these idols can be found they work together to produce a new energy source. With peak oil production in decline the multi national is desperate to find alternate energy.

It is believed the lost civilization of Mu used this energy to supply and protect their various cities. One of these cities may well have been the Lost City of Z. The quest for which led to the loss of Lt Colonel Percival Harrison Fawcett. In 1925 he disappeared in the uncharted jungles of Brazil along with his eldest son.

It has for a long time been assumed that the missing colonel, who was friends with writers Rider Haggard and Arthur Conan Doyle, must have been murdered by Amazonian tribesmen. The truth however turns out to be stranger than fiction. According to previously hidden papers it might be that Fawcett had no intention of ever returning to Britain and lured by a native she-god he planned to set up a commune in the jungle. “The English go native very easily, he once wrote. “There is no disgrace in it. On the contrary in my opinion it shows a creditable regard for the real things in life.” Of course none of this is beyond doubt but I find it particularly fascinating when historical fact, myth and legend once again intersects with Phantom Chronicle and becomes a part of his jungle folklore.
