  • "The Curse of Robert Fitzgiles" - story by Philip Madden and art by Cesar Spadari.
Cover art by Antonio Lemos.

This adventure takes The Phantom from northern England to India and back again! He accompanies Robert Fitzgiles to the Himalayas in his quest to find the rose which will enable him to break the curse. (For his misdemeanours a curse was placed not only on Fitzgiles but his son Robert also.) In their travels they encounter the Thaggs - sinister gangs, roving stranglers, mass murderers who worked their way across the sub-continent. Thagg is the root of the modern day word Thug from which Thuggee of course you will be familiar with the famous Lee Barry story and all the other gang stories that Lee wrote eg The Gray Gang, The River Gang, The Bike Gang etc). Add in superstition, fairytale, romance, witches, curses, and true love and you have an intriguing adventure with many twists and turns.
