  • "The Basilisk" - story by Philip Madden and art by Kari Leppanen.
How does The Phantom survive the Basilisk?
The Basilisk, according to some people  is a ferocious lizard like beast who kills with his eyes before it drags his victim into the jungle!
Others describe it as an enigmatic creature hiding in the shadows and preying on their victims!
Basilisks have high crests on their heads and backs making them look prehistoric.
For this reason they have been portrayed as giant monsters and featured in many stories, films and plays throughout the centuries. Well known appearances have been in Harry Potter, Canterbury Tales and William Shakespeare’s ‘Richard III’.
The new story writer, Philip Madden for Egmont, continues the theme in this edition Frew No 1667 The Basilisk.
