  • "The Devil Camp" - story by Claes Reimerthi and art by Alex Saviuk.
Cover art by Antonio Lemos.

Writer Claes Reimerthi and American artist Alex Saviuk have combined in perfect fashion to produce our new story, The Devil Camp (which I recently mistakenly referred to as The Hell Prison—sorry about that!). The adventure involves The Phantom setting out to rescue a kidnapped Jungle Patrolman Lieutenant and ending up battling a large group of armed criminals who have escaped from their jungle lock-up.

If that’s not enough, The Phantom also stumbles on a major business scandal orchestrated by crooked politicians who will stop at nothing to fill their deep pockets with cash from corruption. Considering the many examples of world-wide political graft and corruption commonplace at all levels today, that part of the story will not shock anybody!

If anything, it will simply serve as a reminder that lies and deception are rife in modern politics. You will appreciate Saviuk’s graphic artistic handling of the many fight scenes created by Reimerthi! Look for the wonderful line uttered by the patrolman near the end of the adventure….the battered Lieutenant, who actually meets The Phantom, but who has no idea who he is, considers the possibility of the mysterious masked man producing a huge amount of mayhem—and then decides only a ’small army’ could have done so.
