"The Art Collector" - story by Donne Avenell and art by Jaime Vallve.

Cover art by Marcelo Baez.

The Art Collector is a cracker of classic story that has never made it to Australia before. It was written by Donne Avenell, and the art was produced by Jaime Vallve. Originally published by Semic Press back in 1978. The Phantom reads in a newspaper that the millionaire Jason Parnossos has discovered Cleopatra’s Tomb and along with it the mummified remains of the snake that killed her. He takes great interest in this article, since he already happens to have the remains of the snake that proved fatal to Cleopatra in his treasure room. The 9th Phantom had discovered her tomb back in 1720, so the Phantom’s suspicions were immediately aroused. He travels to Giza in Egypt to investigate Parnossos’ claims and the plot takes off from that point, as the Phantom must overcome numerous obstacles to eventually unearth the truth about the multi millionaire and his priceless collection.
