"In The Shadow Of The Guillotine" Part 1 of the French Revolution adventure - story by Claus Reimerthi and art by Heiner Bade.
Part 2 is Issue 1595.

Our story in this issue takes you back to the quite grim days of the French Revolution, an historic event far too complicated to even attempt an explanation on this page.
That said, certain things about In The Shadow Of The Guillotine have to be brought to your attention!
Firstly, Claes Reimerthi’s script is not based on Lee Falk’s official Phantom history.
For example...his story stars the 12th Phantom and to a lesser degree, Christopher, his son, who is destined to become the 13th in line.
Lee Falk only ever recorded that the 12th Phantom died in 1812 (see the 1979-80 Sunday story, The Vault of Missing Men) and never linked it to the French Revolution ...
