We go back to the year 1982 to bring you the story featured in this issue.

Writer Idi Kharelli and artist Georges Bess combined that year to produce part one of The Mysterious Cave, a quite scary adventure, published for the first time by Frew, which begins in a cave at the base of Phantom Head Peak.

As you about to discover, The Phantom encounters a strange witch doctor, is overcome by mysterious fumes and is cast adrift in a frightening series of jungle misadventures.

As the story develops, you have to make up your own mind whether all or any of the happenings are real - or whether The Phantom imagines everything in a marathon nightmare.

Nightmare or real life experience aside, The Phantom’s willpower and survival skills are tested to the limit.

Interestingly, there are similarities to parts of a few other Phantom adventures published by Frew, the most recent being The Secret of Phantom Head Peak (Frew No 1502, released on 29 February this year.)

One extremely interesting part of your new adventure concerns The Phantom beginning to worry about losing his control of jungle life.
