  • "The Great Insurance Scam" - story by Dai Darrel and art by George Bess.

A little back tracking is necessary before you learn more about The Great Insurance Scam. Firstly, this story appeared in Frew No 887A published in August,1987, as a support to another new Scandinavian story, The Secret of Snake Island.

If that doesn’t ring a bell, the reason is that when it was first published, we gave it another title! It appeared as Commando 11. Confused? Don’t blame you in the slightest. I agree Commando 11 was an unusual title and while I have forgotten the exact reasons for that decision, it was most likely because the climax of the adventure has distinct overtones of a military commando operation.

This is the first reprint since 1987 (I know it’s hard to believe, but that’s some 25 years ago!). The story has not been converted to a computer font, because we feel the hand lettering is one of the better examples of original draughtsmanship in Frew’s long history.
