Saved By Fate puts forward the claim that a future Phantom played an accidental role in the discovery of Penicillin, the wonder drug of the 1940s. Because so many Phantom enthusiasts include scientists, doctors and academics, it is all too obvious there would be a barrage of arguments heading our way if we made no effort to explain at least some of the reasoning behind Anna Jansson’s intriguing script.

At the end of Saved By Fate, you will find a special article about Sir Alexander Fleming, the Scottish research scientist generally credited as being the man who discovered and named Penicillin in 1928. Some fans might be understandably confused by the comment at the very beginning of the story by the current, 21st Phantom, that it was his father (the 20th Phantom) who was involved in the discovery of Penicillin as a young man and well before he took over the role of The Ghost Who Walks. That might, at first glance, seem unlikely—but read on….everything eventually falls into The Phantom Line chronology laid down by Lee Falk!
